Hi Dharmendra, what’s going on….?
Hello susma…everything all right. I am currently doing the promotion of my second album.
Share something about your second album…..
Of course..Why not. My second album has just arrived in the market, and the name is ‘MERO IDOL’. It has all together seven songs. I tried to give my best in this album. The special thing about this album is, it’s no more tedious. Among seven songs, six are fresh and the one is a remix. one video is already in the media i.e. ‘MANAI TA HO’ and another video of the song titled 'JORI PARI' is about to be released..
Tell us about your first guitar and early band experience.
See, my home town is in LAKE SIDE, POKHARA. And it is the tourist area. So I met two boys who were there from France. When we became closer, they know how much I am interested in music. And then, they gave me their one guitar which was the guitar I touched for the first time. It was the time after S.L.C. They also taught me some chords but when they return back to their country, I practiced myself. And after sometimes, I joined the band named ‘DAMAG GLITTERS’
You are the 1st runner up of 1st Nepali Tara…, how did you get into Nepali Tara?
I still remember that day when I gave my first audition at Pokhara in 2005. At first I was not mentally prepared for this. But one of my brothers, Niroj Tamrakar recommends me and took me to the
audition. I was pretty nervous in front of the judges and I sang the three songs because two of the songs, I sang in the low scale. But judges were happy with my performance and gave chance to come in Kathmandu. After Nepali Tara, I got lot of craze and it helps me to establish in the media. After that, I came up to the final round. For this only also, I was happy. When the Nepali Tara completed, I had my own solo album called ‘THE SECOND’ with the help of SUR TAAL MUSIC Company. I couldn’t be the first in the Nepali Tara, so I kept its name ‘THE SECOND’. In this way, I started my professional musical career.
How important was it to you to enter the Nepali music industry?
Well, in this case… I feel, am quite lucky. I started my career from the band which became very famous in Pokhara and we used to perform in different bars. People began to notice me which help me lot in my career. Then after, I got Nepali Tara as a platform to enhance my career, From this, I began to get lot of concerts as well. So, frankly speaking… I don’t have to struggle with the market and media but it’s true, I always struggle within myself. Best musician…KARNA DAS, SUGAM POKHREL and there are others too…. Oh.. yaa, in new artist, I really hope from Astha( Astha Tamang Maskey). She is really doing well.
How will you define the current musical scenario?
It’s being good. But what I see most is, there’s a lack of professional singers.
Still we are very far from the new media technology. I see, most of the new artist is not so serious about this. They are just taking it as their hobby. So we need to be little bit more serious. And of course, our country is not so developed which directly affect the Nepali music industry. We are economically and technically very weak. We have to compromise in everything. Others are almost fine… You have mixture in variation -
how do you justify your work?
See, I just wanna be a singer. I feel, there should be no boundaries for me in music. Any genre of songs I want to sing. But still, I also want to give my own flavor by mixing the melody in rock and pop music.
You must have practiced a lot, what you worked on to develop your technique?
Nothing special, I just listen different types of music which itself brings a flow of creativity in my mind and helps to create something new.
How do you craft your leads to your songwriting?
Particularly, there’s no such kind of formula. I compose myself and write lyrics too. Sometimes the theme or some incidents helps to compose and write.
Did you ever have any formal training
, private lessons, music school, that sort of thing?
I am self taught. But, yes..band also help me to flourished.
What kind of person is dharmendra sewan?
Hmmm, I love to chat and I am frank too. I had a kind of mix up character. Sometime I am introvert also and I enjoy touring.
Who are your influences?
Karna Das dai….DEEP PURPLE..
What are some of the other things that you’re doing to make sure your career is heading in the right direction?
I perform. three days in a week. I am quite busy performing in the different bars. It economically helps me and also gives me chance to interact directly with the audience.
Any future plans or you just want to go with the flow?by the way are you following the matches?
I just go with the flow. But I need moods and vibes. and yes i am. from the very first time, my favorite team is SPAIN and finally it is in final. So I am very happy. Besides Ghana, Argentina and Germany also played well.
Hare something about Nepali political scenario.
It’s really painful.every one is digging with their personal matter and selfishness.there are two things which i'll never understand.politics and my life he he...
thank you dharmendra
my pleasure susma.......
